Trouble for Microsoft in Europe:
If Microsoft cannot settle an antitrust case brought by European Union regulators, the company may be ordered to remove Windows Media Player as an integrated feature of the dominant Windows operating system, at least for personal computers sold in Europe.
I wish government would stay the hell out of IT! Sure, watch out for Microsoft bullying other companies, watch out for them buying competitors or remove anything that stops competitors products working... but stay the hell away from the functionality of the operating system. The reality is that the inclusion of media player in Windows only helps consumers! They are provided with a working system to manage media etc. right out of the box. If people want to use another package, there is nothing stopping them downloading/installing it and using it (just like they would have to if the EU gets its way). Microsoft doesn't stop them! If someone can innovate and offer better products people can choose to use them..
