I felt guilty buying Riedel glasses because of this book! Wild exaggerations of some things I can relate to! (****)

    Some of you may have read my earlier glowing comments on this book - but as I read on I got more and more disappointed (especially in comparison with the Corrections). Despite Franzen's grand ambition, it never really came together in the end. It ultimately felt somewhat pointless and empty. That said, Franzen's prose is excellent, and it won't put me off reading "Strong Motion". (***)
