I had the most shocking game of Golf on Saturday with Alex (pictured on the first) (at Yarra Bend golf course)- I really can't play anymore! I had the works - tee shots perpendicular to the line I wanted etc. Definately time for a lesson or 10 - I seem to have lost the basics - grip, stance etc. all shot. I might try and sneak over to the Albert Park driving range during lunch this week.
The picture above shows the Flying Foxes that line the riverside edge of the course. They certainly weren't too popular with the fellas we were playing with ("my god, they smell"... "bloody greenies want them protected" etc.) - I was scared to say that we helped raise orphan ones a few years back.
They are actually the most affectionate, beautiful creatures. The ones we raised hung on our shirts until they could fly - indeed the first flight for one of them was from a pole to my shirt. Their wings are very very soft, as is their fur. It is a shame now that they now carry a disease which can be fatal to humans.
